Donut on a String Game

We volunteered to make the frame for this donut on a string or “donut bobbing” game for a PTO fund raiser event. I thought my husband did a great job on it, and I didn’t see anything exactly like it when I was searching for ideas so I’m making a quick post on it.

He made the heigh of the dowel rod easily adjustable for either children or adults to play by using hole saw drill bits (affiliate link). The donuts will hang from the dowel rod and participants will race to see who can eat fastest without using hands.

A good idea. But having some more carpentry jobs in my tight pipeline I feel compelled to fall back on a much more simplified solution, using perhaps an apple tree branch and strings of different lengths. Won’t be remotely as efficient as your solution, but this year we’ll have to do without…

Most of what I saw online for this game was people using tree branches. An apple tree seems perfect for a festive game like this. Wyoming is so windy and dry, trees are scarce in most areas.

I didn’t know about the scarcity of trees in Wyoming, thank you for enlightening me.

Anyway, I always cherish the sight of another family, who are as happy as a family can be. Thank you for you to exist.

Wyoming Prairie

Welcome to my blog. After moving to Wyoming, it was such an uplifting surprise to discover how much edible forage is here. It actually seems more abundant than all other states I’ve lived in. This blog is where I share foraging finds, homesteading attempts, fun facts, and tips for living in Wyoming.
